Raised in a small, sunny island named Singapore, the Author left his motherland with his family to seek greener pastures and spent his first 4 years trotting from South Korea to Brunei and back to South Korea again.

It was during this period that the Author acquired his love for Korean food and where he supposedly spoke very fluent Malay in Brunei. But that acquired language is currently lost and buried deep in his subconsciousness.

The Author returned to the motherland to complete his primary education at one of the pre-eminent all boys schools where he was subjected to wearing tight, balls-busting shorts and shirt with metal buttons.

Said school also produced many prestigious alumni. Balls shrinking shorts = geniuses? The Author is still not a genius or Mensa member.

Despite being subjected to a so-called prestigious education, Author failed his first major exam and went to a neighbourhood school (public school) where he was a lot happier. But more good things were to come.

The Author left the motherland once again and went to a different motherland called Vietnam where he attended a school called International School of Ho Chi Minh City, based in Ho Chi Minh City.

After spending 5 years there, the Author managed to scrap past two major exams and returned back to Singapore (yet again) to complete the male rites of passage for the next 2 years.

As an inside joke among his army buddies, the school is also known as Howard School of Magic. Hence the nickname the Boy From Howard School of Magic.

After 3 years in the motherland (with one year spend mucking around and doing odd jobs), the Author left for Sydney to face his next major hurdle.

The Blog

First, the name is Zareth Writes At: Blog, not ZarethWritesAt or Zarethwritesat. Definitely not The Bathtub Blog or the Toilet Bowl Blog.

So what is this blog about? This blog is about anything and everything, hence the tagline Random Rants…

It contains writings from politics to travelling, from food to pets (mostly rats) and from the mundane to the bizarre. So dive in and have fun (or not). Whatever rocks your boat. The blog also contains drawings and pictures mostly by yours truly.
